THANK YOU
Thanks to Lions Darrell and Nancy Main for the excellent meal at our February 1st meeting .
Also, thanks to Lions Mike Main and Darren and Debbie McAlpine for the great meal at our February 15th meeting.
Thanks to all HL Lion members who helped out at our breakfast on February 11th.
 
MEETINGS
Our first meeting this month will be held on Thursday, March1st at our new Lions hall . Lions Bernie Rohling and Julie Gangl will be cooking at this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 PM and the business meeting will take place at 7:30 PM. Also, we will be having a guest speaker--Lion Steve “Fuzzy” Halseth.
 
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, March 15th at our new meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. This meeting will be a “Fun Night” with the Cokato Lions. There will be a meal that night. We will decide on what the meal will be at our March 1st meeting.
 
The next zone meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at the KC Hall in Waverly.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our club will be sponsoring another pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 1st (Palm Sunday) from 8:00 AM until noon.
 
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7th at Memorial Park in Howard Lake. Co-chairs for this event will be Lions Julie Gangl, Dan Oestreich, and Tom Fiecke.
 
Good Neighbor Days will take place this year from June 22-24. We are asking that each member sell one book of tickets for the four-wheeler.
 
The 6th Annual H.L. Lions Golf Tournament will take place at Shadowbrook Golf Course on Saturday , July 14th. This year there will be a pork chop dinner following the tournament.
 
Our club will be holding a garage sale during the same weekend as the city-wide garage sale.
 
Our club is considering holding a fish fry sometime in September.
 
The Youth Center will be making its move to our new meeting place on Saturday, March 3rd. We could use all the help from the membership that day.
 
Lions made a donation to HLWW School to go toward taking some students to the Minneapolis Children’s Theater.
 
Our sympathies go to the family of Leader Dog Chair Rand Patton who passed away recently. Please keep his family in our prayers.
 
Please contact Lion LaNette Thorson if interested in running for a office for 2007-08.
 
HOFFMAN CONCERT
The Bruce Hoffman concert on Sunday, February 18th was definitely a success . More details will be available in next month’s newsletter.
 
PULL-TAB OPERATION
The situation with our pull-tab operation was discussed at our February 1st meeting. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to close our gambling booth at the Howard Lake Liquor Store as of March 31st.
 
We have paid one scholarship already; the other two will be paid when the money will become available. The Board of Directors will then decide on how many scholarships and how much to give away to this year’s graduating class.
 
BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to all the Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating their birthdays in March: Mike Main (4); Don Oestreich (10); Julie Gangl (14); Sam Gruenhagen (16); and Denise Oberpriller (17).
