Thanks to Lions Mike Main, Darrell Main, and Ron Oxley for the excellent meal they cooked at our March 1st meeting.  Also thanks to Lion Darrell and Mike for the superb meal at our March 15th meeting.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, April 5th at our regular meeting place.  Prospective Lion members, Matt Grindeland and Jeff Bickmann, will be cooking and serving the meal that night which will be at 7:00 P.M.  Our business meeting will follow at approximately 7:30 P.M.

Our second meeting will take place on Thursday, April 19th also at our regular meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors’ meeting that night at 6:30 P.M.   The 6th grade students from Humphrey Elementary in Waverly and volunteers that went to Deep Portage in January will be cooking and serving the meal that night.  They will also be talking about their trip that evening. The business meeting will follow at approximately 7:30 P.M.

Any H.L. Lion members that took any pictures of the radar run or any other functions or events should turn them in (after developing) to Lion Steve Weber ASAP.

Donations were made to After-Prom Party committee, Wright County Snowmobile Club, and to the Montrose Lions Club (for their 20th anniversary as a club).

Thanks to all members and their guests who attended our bowling party at the Park Tavern Lounge & Lanes and to Mystic Lake Resort & Casino on March 10th.  There were thirty-six people that went and all had a good time.  Thanks to Lion Steve Weber for his work on organizing this event.  Also, a big thank you is in order to Lion Darrell Main for all his hard work on the Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser back in September.  Without him, our club would not have had the opportunity to go bowling that weekend.

Our club will once again be selling bicycle helmets at a booth at the H.L. Expo on Saturday, March 24th from 9:30 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.  Lion Peggy Borders will be the chairperson for the helmets.  Also, our Lions club and the HLFD will be at the Expo with a booth promoting Good Neighbor Days. Any members willing to help at either or both booths will be appreciated.

The Howard Lake Lioness will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast at the Howard Lake Legion on Sunday, April 8th (Palm Sunday) from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.  Help from our Lions club will be greatly appreciated.

The Howard Lake Lions and HLFD will also be sponsoring a pancake breakfast fundraiser (for GND) on Sunday, April 29th at the H.L. Legion from 7:00 A.M until 1:00 P.M.

The 5M Multiple Convention will be held in Duluth on May 4, 5, and 6.  If interested in attending, please contact Lion President Dan Judd.

A benefit turkey dinner for Brett Relander will be held on Sunday, March 25th at the Howard Lake Legion from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.  We will be cooking the turkeys with Lion Renee Lahr being the chairperson for this event.  We will need help from as many members of our Lion club as possible.  Lion members working that day are asked to be at the H.L. Legion at 9:00 A.M. (with their vests on) to help set up.

The next zone meeting will be held on Monday, April 9th, at the Cokato Country Club.  Social hour will begin at 6:30 P.M. with the meal at 7:30 P.M.  Any members interested in attending should let Lion LaNette Thorson know by no later than our next meeting (Apr. 5th).

The Howard Lake Lions will once again be holding their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 14th at Memorial Park in Howard Lake.  Festivities will begin at 10:00 A.M.  Lion Dan Oestreich will once again be in charge.  Any help with this event will be very much appreciated.

The Lions International Convention will be in Indianapolis, Indiana from July 2-6.  At that convention, Lion Jack Oberpriller will be remembered.

An appreciation dinner for the town of Howard Lake who have supported our local Lions club through the years will be held on August 25th.   A committee was set up with the following Lions: Mike Main (chairperson), Terry Thorson, Dan Judd, Mel Lahr, Tom Fiecke, and Vern Lemke.
